There really isn't much to do in Messina, when you arrive on a cruise, because of the limited time you have. But the square and many places are walking distance from the port. I don't suggest any excursions the cruise line offers, but I do suggest you get on one of the Red Bus and let it show you around town. Less costly too.

One of the better ports on the Med cruise circuit. Where the ships dock is right by the old area.of the town meaning you don't have to get involved with shuttle buses. Local police seem to have the dockside hustlers well under control.
