It was built in middle ages so luckily Romans had nothing to do with it. Design vise is typically French and there are many similar looking churches in different sizes all over France. It is very close to and almost at the footsteps of even more magnificent Notre Dame Basilique so get yourself some serious catholic overdose.

Lyon was merely a stop over for us on the road trip. We were heading towards Paris and I stopped here for the night and I am so glad I did just by the Cathedrale saint-Jean... there is a lane of shops, gelato, restaurants and enjoyed my evening thoroughly. If you are looking for halal options then there are many restaurants offering halal food. Indian and French knows how to cook!!

The most Gorgeous church I have ever been to! Very well maintained and once you walked inside, you feel relaxed, peaceful and comfortable. By the entrance, on the right don’t miss out on the Treasure room “tresors in French” dated all the way back to the Byzantine era. And all the way down on the left, there’s an exquisite Medieval Clock on display, it’s jaw dropping amazing, don’t miss out

The astrological clock wasn’t working due to construction I think - but it’s ok - still beautiful. The plaza just outside is lovely and you can see the Basilique de Fourvière from there

A beautiful church that dates back the I believe the 1500’s or more. Beautiful rose window at back of church with 3 smallest ones on the sides and front of church. An awesome astronomy clock or whatever it’s called that tells you calendar moon phase, sun location. Was under restoration when I was there. Would like to go back and see it when it is working. Preferably research the times of the day it chimes and makes all the moving pieces go. Want to learn more about how this church was affected in world war. Something about all the heads of the people sculpted on the door archway being broken off. See pictures
