UNITARIANS- Mocked/Promoted on Prairie Home Companion. I have been aware of the Unitarian Church my whole life as my parents College friends, married couple with similar aged daughters to me and my brother, Co raised us as siblings. We were some subset of Lutheran known as congregationalists, Meg and more to the point, her mother Margaret, were Unitarians. Never thought much about it until Margaret died, and being the Quasi twin brother of Meg, I went to her funeral, as she was a second mother. The funeral was at the Unitarian Church on Kenwood Parkway right off of Hennepin and Douglas Drive. MSUS as the attendees call it, is my second introduction to these open Community loving inclusive non-judgemental and yet, Believers in life and a living universe, open to speculation but humble enough to know, that none of us know. Maybe we get to find out when we die, maybe we never figure it out. I'm not sure it really matters. What matters much more, is that you're in a safe place where you are openly encouraged to participate in a conversation with others also interested, in contemplating and exploring how to represent and manifest and participate in such a simple and loving idea, while still alive, and in the community. I currently attend and support a small Lutheran church. Every Sunday we reaffirm a list or should I say a liturgy of commitments, to a good chunk, of the Catholic dogma. Such things as the communion of saints, the Forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, Etc. It bothers me just a little bit because I'm not sure I believe any of that. Maybe I am a Unitarian. The membership here is growing for good reason, they are currently searching for a bigger home even though their current home is absolutely lovely. Easy to find too.

This is such a welcoming community. I absolutely loved attending here. It's a really small community and I thought that would be overwhelming but it's was very intimate and exciting. There views are very liberal and the service is focused on doing good in the world. The pastor seems very nice and very insightful. She held a great service last Sunday. There was probably about 30 people in attendance. It was focused on helping your neighbor and who really is your neighbor. It was very inspiring to hear that insightful sermon. Afterwards there were snacks and many people came over to talk to me about there experience there and how I could get involved. They have a Youth education program for younger kids and two service times. They also seem to be very connect with the community and very concerned with the well being of their members and there community. I am really excited to become a part of this faith community, they were so inviting and the people are just great. If your planning on attending the 10:30 mass is much more comfortable for someone not used to a small church setting. There was a piano player who accoympaned the congregation in all the songs, and a guest performer who delighted the audience. The sermon lasted till 11:30 and then there was delicious refreshments offered. I can not stress enough how inviting the whole experience was, I would definitely reccomend!!

They have a room for gatherings with a kitchen which can be rented. I have attended many events held there by different groups and it seems like a good enough space. They have chairs and tables which can be set up for events. There is an expectation that groups will pick up after themselves
